Elizabeth Banks recently appeared on Good Morning America to promote her new movie “People Like Us”. While her style wasn’t exactly preppy, it certainly contained elements that we loved.
First off, the silhouette of the dress was lovely, but we could live without the keyhole neckline. Obviously the chevron pattern caught our attention immediately! This is one zigzag a prep must have. While the colors of the pattern aren’t exactly Lilly approved, we enjoyed the bold statement they made, and of course, navy is the perfect neutral for the background.
This is a great lesson in how preppy (anti)-fashion and celebrity fashion can take from each other and develop into broader, more encompassing styles.
Here’s how we would do it:
For this look we chose a Donna Morgan Dress with a larger chevron print in three classic colors, navy, orange, and pink. We paired it with nude MELISSA ballet flats with a gold cap toe. Since the neutral in the dress is navy, we chose this Kate Spade Shoulder Bag in navy with an adorable basket weave. Finally, we topped this ensemble off with a J. Crew Flower Lattice Necklace in neon peach.
